Uranium & Salt

This is one cyanotype in the latest series that I have been working on, called "Bone Memory". I created this cyanotype using my own hands and other objects to create photograms. While the cyanotype chemicals were drying I sprinkled salt on the paper to create the crystallization effects that you can see around the edges of the paper. The paper is hand-coated by me with a foam brush in very dim lighting, the edges are not perfect, there is evidence of the brush marks.

I used Queen Ann's Lace flowers that I foraged alongside a large sun catcher that I use to film videos through in my new media work. The leaf is a beautiful uranium glass bowl from my mother-in-law, the candlestick is also a uranium glass gift from her. I am slowly growing my uranium glass collection, which I love using in my cyanotypes.

Where it's been: Made in my home studio in North York with plants foraged in my neighborhood.
